Champaign CTO Family night was held Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the Fluid Event Center in Champaign. A great time of food and fellowship, was enjoyed by the 50+ guests, that included families and friends of the Champaign Sportsmen as well as several guests. The night got off to a great start with a time of worship, led by the music group, “Out of the Ashes”. The group started and wrapped up our night; helping put words of praise in our hearts and a song in our step. One of the “Out of the Ashes” group is our very own, Gary Schrock, a former CTO guide that has encouraged the boys on several turkey hunts. We offer a very special thank you to Gary and the entire band for making the evening enjoyable.
The main speaker for the evening was Paul Guthridge. Paul shared about and demonstrated reloading ammunition for a variety of firearms. He discussed some of the history of reloading and showed some of the basic “by hand” tools that he started with, moving up through the more recent reloading equipment. Paul has been reloading since his youth and reminisced about buying supplies as a Jr. High student; something that is quite differently regulated today. As time went so quickly, Paul plans to come back to work with the boys on a Sportsman’s night to allow them an opportunity to learn more and help make “Keychain” bullet keepsakes. Everyone enjoyed him sharing and had many questions for afterwards.
